- HISTORY
- Apex was created by Salesforce as a way for customers to write custom business logic that runs on its cloud platform, and was introduced in 2007. Its syntax is strongly modelled on Java, but it runs on Salesforce's servers, where database queries in SOQL can be written inline in the code. Because many customers share the same multitenant infrastructure, Apex enforces strict "governor limits" on how many queries, records and CPU time a single transaction may use.
- USAGE
- Used by Salesforce developers and consultants to build triggers, integrations and custom applications on the Salesforce platform. It has a large professional community but no use outside Salesforce.
