- HISTORY
- C# was designed at Microsoft by a team led by Anders Hejlsberg, who had previously created Turbo Pascal and Delphi. It was announced in 2000 as the flagship language of the new .NET platform, and during development it was code-named "Cool". Critics initially saw it as Microsoft's answer to Java, but it soon diverged with features like properties, delegates, LINQ and async/await. The name comes from musical notation, where a sharp raises a note by a semitone.
- USAGE
- One of the most popular languages in the world, used for enterprise and web backends with ASP.NET, Windows desktop applications, cloud services and game development, most notably as the scripting language of the Unity engine.
